Your Vitality Guide is a holistic, self-guided approach to intuitive nourishment that blends learning and reflection through guided journaling. It supports embodied self-awareness and practical nutrition wisdom, without rules, plans, or prescriptions.
Rather than telling you what to do, this work invites you to build a personal relationship with your body grounded in observation, self-trust, and lived experience. With self-compassion, intention, and a beginner’s mind, you learn to respond to your body with clarity instead of habit.
This approach is designed to be experienced with pen to paper. Whether you print your eBooks or use a companion journal, the space for notes, doodling, and reflection helps you internalize each concept at your own pace.
Your Vitality Guide was created for people who feel overwhelmed by conflicting wellness information and are ready to return to themselves as their primary source of insight. If you enjoy learning, journaling, and approaching health as an evolving practice rather than a problem to solve, this work will resonate.

This page is a complete overview of the Your Vitality Guide journaling journey. You don’t need to read it all at once; feel free to skim the sections that feel most relevant to where you are right now, and use the links below to jump to specific topics.
Part 1 – Self Knowledge
Establish self-awareness about what’s holding you back from feeling your best, envision how you want to feel, and learn about the mindset and techniques you can implement to get there. The suggested time commitment for Part 1 is 24 days.
Chapter 0, FOUNDATIONS
This workbook is the introduction to YVG with a bit about the author, Carly. You’re introduced to the values of this brand and encouraged to go deep on topics such as what you like and what makes you different. We discuss SMART goals, and you’re guided to take a snapshot of your current state in the 10-day self-observation journal template.

Chapter 1, BALANCE
BALANCE is all about creating a framework for a self-disciplined diet and committing to pleasure at every meal. Increase your awareness about what goes into your body, focus on adding new nutrient-dense foods to your existing routines, and leave with an ‘aha!’ moment that will make deciding what to eat much more of a breeze (hint… you have to eat what you are made of!) If you start and finish here, you’ll learn enough to make lasting change in your lifelong health.
Part 1 isn’t about answers; it’s about seeing yourself and opening your mind to what goes into your body from a fresh perspective. There’s no pressure to change, just understand. From here, nourishing choices become a response to information rather than a reflex based on habit, confusion, or convenience.
Part 2 – How You Nourish
Explore nourishment beyond food. Part 2 is largely about how you spend your time daily and how you feel about your energy commitments. Remove resentment and obligation, and tune into your natural, gratifying life flow. It’s the microhabits in the mundane that stack up to equal your whole life. Space this learning out as you choose, from 6 weeks to 6 months.
Chapter 2, MINDFUL
Here, we explore your attention and intentions at mealtime. This discussion intertwines science and philosophy. We discuss the physiology of digestion as well as breathwork for your nervous system. Learn about fight-or-flight and rest-and-digest to help work with your body at mealtime. If you want more mental and emotional enjoyment from each meal, a smaller food budget, an easier time with weight management, and fewer cravings, don’t miss MINDFUL.
Chapter 3, HYDRATE
You might be surprised that this chapter is about so much more than water. ‘Drink water’ is the surface recommendation you’ll hear everywhere. We’ll ground this with a discussion on your gut microbiome and digestion as they pertain to your hydration habits. Timing, quantity, quality, recipes, and habit creation are what this workbook helps you understand to such a deep level that the doing becomes easy. Take a chance on HYDRATE and know it won’t be dry (pun intended!).
Chapter 4, EMOTION
Can you imagine embracing your eating emotions rather than shaming them? Let’s discover the other sweetness in your life that balances you. Holistic nutrition includes healthy self-talk and an accepting and loving mindset about food and your body. Adopt your ideal diet, eat without guilt, and affirm that no food is bad food. Leave with a treasure box of mealtime mantras to help train your brain for self-acceptance and self-improvement with EMOTION.
Chapter 5, FUEL
Is fasting good for you? What’s your ideal eating schedule? The answer to these questions is different for each person and changes every moment, as we all have unique constitutions. Some concepts from Ayurveda are introduced so you can deepen self-knowledge with a fun new tool. Understanding blood sugar balance is a major component of this Chapter, and each of us experiences blood sugar imbalances differently. Learn the science and signals to look out for and empower yourself with education about digestion and energy levels to decide for yourself about fast versus FUEL.
Chapter 6, REST
An integral puzzle piece in a vibrant, holistic, healthy and happy life is true REST. We’ll introduce readings and recommendations about rest alongside the importance of healthy sleep. Compare your cycles and struggles with circadian rhythm and Traditional Chinese Medicine clocks to see if anything resonates with your intuitive knowing. We’ll complete this chapter with self-care strategies and boundary-setting tips. Look within, listen and decide what gets the privilege of your energy and attention.
Chapter 7, RENEWAL
A self-loving way to view exercise is: you’re renewing your cells and tissues with healthier versions of themselves. How can you move your body in ways that are enjoyable and sustainable within your life circumstances? RENEWAL helps you define why you move, how you move, what intuitive movement looks like to you, and more. Set movement-related SMART goals and reflect on how far you’ve come with the final lesson in Part 2, How You Nourish.
How You Nourish is essential to holistic health; it’s the framework for healthy food choices to fit within. The results: your energy is balanced, you are adequately hydrated, you’re emotionally level when it comes to food, and more. Optimize your lifestyle. We don’t use optimize in a performance or technical sense here… It’s about fully and completely honouring your nurturing inner nature. Customized self-care, and How You Nourish your one and only physical body.
Part 3 – What You Eat
Expand your intuitive connection to food and your body. Part 3 is not a nutrition prescription; it’s further knowledge sharing that you can eat up and integrate into your life in your own way. The arc of these 5 Chapters carries through with widening the lens from Chapter 1, BALANCE, before moving into a narrowing of choices that you can personalize to your life and preferences. Expect to spend a week to a month with each Chapter.
Chapter 8, WHOLE
This chapter clarifies whole foods, food processing and how to shop and consume with a critical eye. We welcome guest writer and friend of the author, Farah Motani, who explains organic, biodynamic, and other food labels. Review, reflect on, and introduce abundant WHOLE foods in your diet and learn to unplug from food marketing to listen within rather than from outside sources. We’ll end on an empowering and self-accepting note as always, with the importance of a holistic mindset, including appreciation for access to any and all food.
Chapter 9, FUNCTION
The flip side to emotion, FUNCTION covers what it feels like when your body is asking for certain food groups, so you can intellectually connect to symptoms and intuitively nourish. Discover lists of foods and see a suggested meal plan focusing on a balance of food groups. With more discussion of your gut microbiome and physiology, the goal is to teach you concepts that click, so that choosing the right foods becomes automatic and instinctive.
Chapter 10, FLAVOUR
When was the last time you paused to truly taste real food? Can you relate to the seven tastes and the energetic effect of flavour on your body? Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and Western science are woven together in a tapestry of concepts offered so you can further refine food choices based on your uniqueness. Connect to which flavours are medicinal to you at certain points in life, and whether your palate could be reattuned to a spectrum of FLAVOUR.
Chapter 11, LOCAL
Starting with eating locally and seasonally from a Western perspective, this discussion is deepened as we continue borrowing philosophy and wisdom from the East. Choose foods based on the season of the earth, with nutritional options, food choices, and cooking techniques suggested based on your unique place and time in life. Adopt rotation and variation throughout your LOCAL diet changes to ensure a full spectrum of food benefits.
Chapter 12, CHANGE
Just like we change with the cycles of the seasons, we also have seasons and cycles in life. CHANGE is about being flexible and meeting yourself with an open mind each day so you can nourish appropriately as you flow through life. Ideas from Ayurveda and TCM are intertwined in this discussion. Learn, expand, and choose what’s true for you right now. This chapter concludes the series with gratitude to you for coming along for the ride.
What You Eat is a personal consideration that should bring you joy and balance. Come with an open mind and discover ways in which food speaks to your system, and understand more about the language of sensations in your body. You’ll finish this journey of learning with heightened instincts about what’s right for you, and confidently trust your inner knowing.
The Your Vitality Guide Approach is an invitation to turn up the volume of your wellness intuition and return to self-authority. Through these lessons, you’ll gain practical tools to enhance your health, deepen your self-awareness, and create lasting change. This is more than journals; it’s a journey toward your best self.
